2023: Plateau PDP reconciles aggrieved members | Tellwell Newspaper
From Giwa Alex, Jos
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State has embarked on a reconciliation with the aggrieved losers of its primaries with a view to approaching the 2023 elections with a united front.
The State Chairman of the party, Chris Hassan, who disclosed this when he accompanied the party’s gubernatorial candidate home, Mangu, did not, however, mention the number of the aggrieved contestants.
Hassan said the emergence of Caleb Mutfwang as the governorship flag bearer has strengthened the party’s acceptability towards wining all elections in 2023.
The gubernatorial candidate, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, who received the royal blessings of Mangu Traditional Rulers and Plateau elders to win the 2023 governorship election in the state, said the party is poised to snatch power from the APC and provide credible leadership to the state.
Mutfwang said he would leverage on the opportunity he had in working closely with people at the grassroot as a former local government chairman to run a people-oriented government if elected.
He assured that every ethnic group on the Plateau would be given a sense of belonging in his administration.
Mutfwang said his campaign team and the party are engaging critical stakeholders across the state to ensure adequate preparation for the party ahead of the electioneering campaign.
“We are reconciling party members and making sure that we sensitize people so that when the campaigns start in earnest, we will go in as a united people,” Mutfwang said.
The Deputy Governorship Candidate, Josephine Piyo, applauded women for trooping out enmasse to receive the PDP governorship candidate who has great consideration for women in the rebuilding of Plateau State.
She assured that Mutfwang would be gender-friendly in providing leadership on the Plateau if given the mandate, having cede the deputy governorship position to women, assuring that women will play key role in the government.
