It is from grace to grace for Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai. The former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) is now the Betara of Biu Emirate in Borno State.
The Betara is the third in the hierarchy of traditional title holders of the Emirate.
The Emir of Biu, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, confered the title on the Nigerian Army General via a letter to him from the Biu Emirate Council on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
By this appointment, Lt Gen TY Buratai (rtd), will be among the Kingmakers of the emirate.
A date will soon be announced for the formal turbaning ceremony at the Emir’s palace in Biu, Borno State.
