Silk Road Anthology opens entries for African poets | Tellwell Newspaper
Tellwell Newspaper, Abuja – Nigeria:
The Silk Road Anthology, a World Poetry Movement project, has called on poets from the continent to submit nano poems for its forthcoming collection of poetry from the African poets.
In a statement from the project obtained by Tellwell Newspaper, interested poets are expected to submit short poems in various languages for the maiden African edition of the Silk Road Anthology tagged ‘Nano Poems for Africa’.
“I call on poets to submit their entries for “Nano Poems for Africa” to join the new 2023 Anthology of the Silk Road Literature Series,” the project’s editor, Ashraf Aboul-Yazid, was quoted in the statement.
Entries are to be accompanied by the poets’ pictures and short biographies of 99 words. Only one poem is to be sent by each poet.
The Silk Road Anthology, which seeks to bridge ideas and creative people, has published poetry compendia from different parts of the world. These include “Asia Sings”, “Mediterranean Waves”, “Ancient Egyptians, Modern Poets” and “Arabian Nights, World Poems”.
“In the previous edition of the Silk Road Anthology there were more than 20 languages chosen by 155 poets from 40 countries,” Aboul-Yazid said.
As a member of Pan-African Writers Association (PAWA) the project targets all poets from 54 African countries for the ‘Nano Poems for Africa’ anthology.
Interested poets are to send their entries to ashraf_dali@yahoo.com by December 31, 2022.
